(AsiaGameHub) – Aviator LLC has initiated formal legal proceedings against Betway in South Africa, alleging that the operator has utilized protected visual elements associated with the AVIATOR brand without proper authorization.
Aviator had previously issued a cease and desist notice before filing the lawsuit.
As Betway did not respond in a way that resolved the issue, Aviator asserts that it was compelled to take the matter to court, especially as the brand experiences continued expansion in African markets.
Aviator CEO George Pruidze commented:
Our aim in collaborating with partners has always been to avoid escalating issues into court battles. From the beginning, our focus has been on finding professional and constructive resolutions that protect the shared interests of all parties while preserving the integrity of the AVIATOR brand and its intellectual property. Regrettably, Betway’s response and ongoing conduct left us with no viable alternative but to pursue legal action.
Aviator indicated that this specific case could result in an injunction prohibiting further use of its assets, in addition to claims for damages and the recovery of profits.
